Definitions:
The co-ordinating system:
- Phase - Five pre-defined phases of JY Formation - Contact, Companion, Committed, Confirmed, Covenant.
- Stage – Formation will be imparted in 3 stages helping members to move from contact to companion stage, companion to committed stage and committed to confirmed stage
- Course- Each stage of formation is divided into one or more courses. Participants progress through the courses in a sequential fashion.
- Module - Topics covered in a course are divided into modules, each covering a specific theme.
- Unit - A collection of modules in a course, delivered to a single group of participants at a single place within a Formation Base.

Formation Base - A geographical area identified by the regional/national elected teams/councils, based on the number of people to receive formation and the availability of mature people to impart formation. Participants are typically associated with a single Formation Base (home base), but members can move between bases during the life of the formation program.
- Formation Base Team: Each formation base will have a Formation Base Team to co-ordinate the formation process. A FBT coordinates trained facilitators, mentors and resource persons working closely with them to impart the training.
